A Bite of Home…

Orly Peters, founder of Habuyta.

When we arrived in the U.S. in 2015 as immigrants with three kids, we felt lost.
Like many newcomers, we experienced loneliness and disconnection—from home, from community, from the flavors that made us feel like HOME.

Cooking changed that.

Recreating homemade food brought comfort to our family and helped us adjust to a new life. But finding the right ingredients wasn’t easy, and the food we found in restaurants often didn’t reflect the authentic flavors we grew up with.
As we searched, we discovered something bigger.

We met people longing for the food they couldn’t find anywhere else, and incredibly talented home chefs who wanted to share their culture through food but didn’t know how to start, how to sell, or how to grow. Many were cooking from their hearts, but lacked visibility, support, and access.

That’s where Habuyta began.

We started by bringing people together through food—events, classes, shared meals, and community experiences. Food wasn’t just something you ordered. It was how cultures met, connections were formed.

As the community grew, we needed to scale what was working.

To truly support more home chefs and reach more people, we needed to productize what we were doing in real life.

So we took everything we learned from those experiences. The trust, discovery, support, education, and sense of belonging, and built it into the platform. That’s why today, Habuyta makes it easy and affordable for home chefs to be discovered, launch their businesses, and turn their passion into repeatable revenue—without needing to figure everything out alone.

For buyers, Habuyta offers more than food. It’s a way to discover hard-to-find dishes - food they can’t find elsewhere, explore cultures, and feel connected—anytime, anywhere.

Habuyta is still growing. We’re shaping, improving, and building every day. And with your support, we can continue to scale this community, open doors for more home chefs, and bring meaningful food experiences to people who need them most.
